Membership in the Society of Broadcast Engineers is handled at the national level in Indianapolis, Indiana.  We encourage all radio and television broadcast engineers to become members.  That applies to anyone interested in a broadcast engineering career.  No experience necessary,  just a desire to be in broadcast engineering.  We'll mentor and help train you.

SBE members who transfer from one city to another should contact national SBE to change chapters.  In this case, we are Chapter 17.  After doing so, the member will then be added the mailing list for news and information about upcoming meetings.

The SBE TPTP Technical Professional Training Program is a great way to learn the skills needed to be a broadcast engineer.  The program was created to fill the gap between seasoned broadcast engineers and newcomers in to the field.

The Society of Broadcast Engineers instituted a Mentor Program to help fledgling engineers in their quest to learn the trade.  Seasoned radio and television broadcast engineers volunteer their time to answer questions and solve problems at no cost to the mentee.

The Member Plus program in the SBE is a great way to learn new skills.  It is just another service that the Society of Broadcast Engineers has to offer.

Once a member is certified through examination, he or she is eligible to use the SBE Certified logo on websites and business cards etc.

Hal Hostetler
SBE HF HAMnet
Otherwise known as the SBE Chapter of the Air, takes place on the second Sunday of every month at 2400 GMT. That is 6 pm Central Time in Minnesota during the winter and 7 pm in the summer.  Hal Hostetler, CPBE, WA7BGX, serves as net control. The frequency is 14.205 MHz. Occasionally, that frequency is busy and you may need to move up (no more than 10kHz) to find the SBE meeting.  Hal is a long-time SBE member and lives in Tucson, AZ.
There is also the SBE UHF/VHF Hamnet and SkyHubLink. See: SBE UHF/VHF HAMnet
